Be able to critique their own and others’ work by emphasizing global revision early in the writing process and local revision later in the process.
I think that I did particularly well at the peer revision phase of this second essay. I believe my global revision recommendations are very helpful and good for the other writer. I felt like I could have gone a little bit more in depth, but overall my comments were more than sufficient. One thing I noticed is that the paper had a lot of local revisions, like grammar and spelling, so I wish we had time to comment on these too to make our papers sound better. Overall, I think that the peer revisions are very helpful for everyone. I also think that I could get better at large scale global revisions, like essay organization as a whole. I feel like we do not pay enough attention to the order of our paragraphs and ideas, as we tend to just type a lot and how it flows. The flow of our thoughts is not always the most logical flow for a paper as a whole. I feel like there are a lot more sources to choose from in this essay, which makes it hard to comment on the sources used and the evidence used, mostly because I may not be familiar with the source. I think it would be beneficial to be familiar with the evidence so we can make comments and suggestions on them. One last thing I did well was verbally communicate with the person who’s paper I read in order to efficiently explain some of my thoughts and comments on their paper. I think this is crucial because the comments may not tell the whole story and require more explanation, and it is good to communicate more anyways.

When I coded my peer review, I found that I made most revisions under the category of “Ideas”. I feel like I am very effective at giving my peers ideas on how to boost their writing quality. I also had a few comments about organization, which mostly had to do with transitions. I felt like some of my comments on ideas could also fall under visibility, which makes that category kind of scarce compared to others. I did not give many comments on evidence, so this is something I could improve on. I did not make any local revision suggestions, as I mainly focused on global revisions. I feel like there were not many local revision suggestions to make, and most can be easily fixed through proof-reading ones paper.
